DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 289 begins in the City of Alta Vista and travels easterly to US 63 approximately six miles east of Alta Vista.

 

Due to a transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑289‑0 (2) ‑‑2M‑19 between the City of Alta Vista and the Iowa Department of Transportation approved April 4, 1980, that portion of Iowa 289 beginning on Main Street 739 feet south of the intersection of Main Street and Water Street northerly and easterly to the east corporation line should be deleted from the primary road system and reverted to the city street system of Alta Vista, effective July 1, 1980.

 

Due to a transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑289‑0 (3) ‑‑2M‑19 between Chickasaw County and the Iowa Department of Transportation approved April 4, 1980, that portion of Iowa 289 from the east corporation line of Alta Vista easterly to a junction with US 63 near the NE Corner Section 30‑T97N‑R12W should be deleted from the primary road system and reverted to the Chickasaw County secondary road system effective July 1, 1980.

 

PROPOSAL/ ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the description of Iowa 289 in Chickasaw County, as referred to in the attached detailed description, be deleted from the primary road system.

 

Remove Iowa 289 and its extension in Chickasaw County as follows:

 

Alta Vista:

 

Beginning 739 feet south of the intersection of Main Street and Water Street; thence northerly and easterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning again on the east corporation line of the City of Alta Vista, connecting with an unnamed street; thence east following substantially the section line through Sections 29, 28, 27, 26, and 25‑T97N‑R13W; thence Section 30‑T97N‑R12W; to a point near the NE Corner Section 30‑T97N‑R12W (junction of US 63).

Due to the review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 289 in Chickasaw County should be deleted from the Primary System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

 

Iowa 289 begins in Alta Vista, Iowa and travels easterly terminating at the junction of US 63 approximately 5 ˝ miles east of Alta Vista, Iowa.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Locate Iowa 289 and its extension in Chickasaw County as follows:

 

Alta Vista:

 

Beginning 739 feet south of the intersection of Main Street and Water Street; thence northerly and easterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning again on the east corporation line of the City of Alta Vista, connecting with unnamed street; thence east following substantially the section line through Sections 29, 28, 27, 26, and 25‑T97N‑R13W; thence Section 30‑T97N‑R12W; to a point near the NE Corner Section 30‑T97N‑R12W (junction of US 63).
